OSC Bremerhaven

Bremerhaven's sporting life used to run through separate clubhouses. In 1972 several of them merged into a single body, Olympischer Sport-Club Bremerhaven, bringing together ATSB Bremerhaven, whose lineage ran back to 1859, alongside the police club PSV Unterweser. The judo section joined properly in 1975, and the gymnastics club TGC Blau-Gold did not come in until 1987.

TuS Bremerhaven 93 signed up in 1974, but its footballers kept playing under their old name for three more years before folding into OSC in 1977.

That same year the football team won the Oberliga Nord and went up to the 2. Bundesliga Nord, only to finish 19th and drop straight back down. A second promotion followed in 1979/80, and again OSC came back down, this time in 17th. The Bremer Pokal was won twice, in 1981 against TS Woltmershausen and in 1984 against Werder Bremen's amateur side, each victory earning a run in the DFB-Pokal.

The club finished bottom of the Verbandsliga in 1988 and dropped into the Landesliga. Then in 1991 most of the first team walked out to set up a rival club, FC Bremerhaven, leaving OSC to rebuild from what remained.

That rebuilding has stretched into recent seasons. Fourth place in the Bremen-Liga in 2022/23 brought a promotion play-off that OSC did not survive; third place followed in 2024/25; in 2025/26, the club won the Bremen-Liga outright.

Home games are played at the Nordsee-Stadion, where 4,000 seats face a 6,000-capacity standing terrace across a ground shared with the American football team Bremerhaven Seahawks.

TuS Bremerhaven 93, the club whose footballers eventually became OSC's own, had already been champions of the Amateurliga Bremen in 1948 and runners-up in the Oberliga Nord in 1955 — honours won years before the merger that carried its name into OSC's history books.
