Podlasie Biała Podlaska

Sebastian Szymański started out in the academy that carries Podlasie's name before Legia Warsaw took him on, and his path through Dynamo Moscow, Feyenoord and Fenerbahçe now runs on well past Biała Podlaska — but it began there, at the club known locally as Akademicy.

The line back to 1957 is not a straight one. The original Robotniczy Klub Sportowy Podlasie was folded into a merger with AZS and Krzna in 1974 to form RAKS, and Podlasie was reformed as a club in its own right in 1984. Another merger followed in 1995, joining AZS Podlasie and MZKS Podlasie into AZS-Podlasie, which settled on its current name, MKS Podlasie, in 2003.

The AZS years produced the club's best football: an Academic Championship of Poland in 1977 and a run to the Polish Cup round of 16, ended by Legia Warszawa. Podlasie matched that height at senior level in 2009, winning the IV Liga in the Lublin group without losing a match and going up to the III Liga. Since 2022 the youth setup has run jointly with AP TOP-54 Biała Podlaska, the academy that gave the club its recent stream of players into Poland's top flight.

Derby Podlasia is the fixture that matters most here, played against Orlęta Radzyń Podlaski.
