Poole Town

Poole Town have not moved ground since October 2000. They left Poole Stadium in 1994 when the Poole Pirates speedway track was expanded into the pitch, then shared with Hamworthy United and later Holt United before a spell at Haskells Recreation Ground ended over vandalism and security problems. The Tatnam Ground, built on a former school field on School Lane, was the first pitch the club could call its own in over half a century, and its Main Stand holds 268 of the 2,500 capacity.

The club dates to 20 September 1890, formed by the merger of Poole Rovers and Poole Hornets. Its best spell on the pitch came far more recently: three straight Wessex League Premier Division titles between 2008 and 2011, followed by promotion form that carried them to the Southern League Division One South & West title in 2012-13. The Western League championship of 1956-57 remains the oldest league honour still referenced at the club.

Matches against Weymouth are known locally as the Dorset Derby, with Dorchester Town the other fixture that matters more than three points.

No one associated with Poole Town is remembered like Charlie Austin. He spent a single season here, 2008-09, and scored 64 goals in 57 appearances before his move up the leagues eventually took him into the Premier League and England contention. Tom Killick's name sits alongside his in a different way, having served the club through a long stretch as both player and manager, the kind of continuity a ground-sharing decade did not allow.
