Puebla

In the 1989–90 season Puebla did something no run of form usually allows: they won the Liga MX title, then the Copa México, and then the Campeón de Campeones match as well, so that every domestic trophy on offer that year ended up in Puebla. The form carried past the border a season later, when the club beat regional opposition to lift the CONCACAF Champions Cup in 1991.

The club was founded on 7 May 1944 in Puebla de Zaragoza as Puebla Fútbol Club, and the wait for a first trophy was short: the Copa México arrived the following year, in 1944–45. Decades on, in 2014–15, Puebla paired the Copa México with the Supercopa MX in the same season, a smaller echo of that 1989–90 sweep.

The shirt explains the nickname: white, crossed by a diagonal blue sash, which is why the club is known as La Franja rather than by the older Los Camoteros.

Puebla's oldest derby, El Clásico del Sur against Veracruz, has nowhere left to be played: Veracruz were dissolved as a club in 2019. The rivalry filling that gap now sits inside the city itself, against Lobos BUAP, in what is known as El Clásico Poblano.

Home games are still played at Estadio Cuauhtémoc, nicknamed the Coloso de Maravillas, rebuilt in 2015 to hold 51,726.
