Queens Park Rangers U21

Development football at this level rarely gets a trophy to show for it, but Queens Park Rangers' under-21 side has one now: in 2024–25 they beat Brentford's under-21s 3–1 in the Premier League Cup final.

That business has worked often enough to matter. Raheem Sterling and Eberechi Eze both came through the QPR academy before moving on to senior careers well beyond Loftus Road, and Ilias Chair made the shorter step up into the first team at the same ground. The U21s exist for exactly that kind of progression.

The shirts still carry the blue-and-white hoops the senior club adopted in 1926, and the "Hoops" nickname passes down to every age group that wears them. What the final against Brentford underlined, though, is a rivalry that runs through west London well before any player reaches the first team: QPR's academy sits in the same catchment as Brentford, Fulham and Chelsea.
