Second place in the 2024 JFF Championship carried more weight than the table suggested: it sent Racing United into the Jamaica Premier League for the first time, closing out a run that had already put them top of the Tier II regular season in 2023/24.

The club has not gone further than that runners-up finish — no Premier League title, no JFF Champions Cup — but the climb itself is the story so far, and Head Coach Anthony Patrick is the name tied to it, having overseen both promotion pushes. Portmore itself supplies the rivalry that matters most to the club's supporters. Portmore United play in the same parish, and matches between the two are known locally as the Portmore derby, a fixture that predates Racing United's own rise through the divisions.
