Roeselare Daisel

When K.S.V. Roeselare went under in 2020, the city was left without the club that had carried its name into the top flight.

Football in Roeselare began in 1900 with De Verenigde Vrienden.

That merged side gave the city its one spell among the elite. Runners-up in the Belgian Second Division in 2004–05, they won the promotion play-offs and reached the First Division for the first time. A European tie followed in 2006–07: the UEFA Cup second qualifying round, and out to Ethnikos Achna of Cyprus. In 2008–09 they went as far as the quarter-finals of the Belgian Cup before Cercle Brugge put them out. A decade on, second place in First Division B in 2016–17 came to nothing — the play-offs again, this time the other way.

Black and white are the colours, and the nickname De Rodenbachboys comes from the ground rather than from anything on the pitch. Schiervelde has been home since 5 September 1987, when the club left 't Motje behind; it holds 8,340, of which more than three thousand are standing. During a spell leased to Club NXT it went by another name entirely, The Nest, which never quite took in Roeselare itself.
