Roffey

Ricardo Fernandes spends his working week as a porter in an NHS hospital, and his weekends as Roffey's captain and central midfielder. He drew wider attention when a lobbed goal he scored for the club circulated online, viewers noting how closely he resembles Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United and Portugal.

The club took shape in Roffey, a village near Horsham in West Sussex, in 1901, and carries the nickname "The Boars". For most of its history it has played at Bartholomew Way, a ground with two stands holding 100 seated spectators and room for 50 more standing, known locally as the "Theatre of Trees". A high water table there brought repeated postponements, and in March 2026 the club agreed a groundshare with National League South side Horsham FC. For the 2026–27 and 2027–28 seasons the first team plays instead at the Hop Oast Stadium, which holds 3,000, while Roffey plans new facilities of its own.

Roffey compete in the Southern Combination Football League, wearing blue shirts and shorts with white socks, and took the Division One title in 2021–22 and again in 2023–24. Matches against Billingshurst carry the weight of a derby, and there is also needle in fixtures against Horsham YM.

The move to Hop Oast is meant as transitional rather than permanent, a stopgap while Bartholomew Way's drainage problems are sorted out and a longer-term home is found.
