Schwachhausen

The women's side has done most of the winning since 2018: four Verbandsliga Bremen titles in seven years, plus two Bremer Pokal wins along the way. No other part of the club has matched that rate.

Football came late to Schwachhausen. The Schwachhauser Turnverein was founded on 3 April 1883 as a gymnastics club, and a football section only appeared in 1916. From 1922 to 1926 it was folded into BBV Union Bremen before breaking away as an independent Schwachhauser Sportverein, the side that met Geestemünde and Union Bremen through the 1920s and early 1930s — before the two bodies rejoined in 1945 to form today's TuS Schwachhausen.

The men's team had its own high point in 1974/75: second place in the Landesliga Bremen and a first appearance in the DFB-Pokal, ended by a 0-3 defeat away to FC 08 Homburg. Bezirksliga and Landesliga titles followed in 2006 and 2008, but by 2023 the club, playing out of the Bezirkssportanlage Schwachhausen, could not fill out a squad and withdrew its first team from the Bremen-Liga.

Willi Schröder, a former Werder Bremen player, coached the club into the Landesliga in 1968. The forward Peter Strudthoff earned the nickname "Torminator" for the goals that came with it. The Werder connection outlasted results: Rudi Völler and Thomas Schaaf played in a friendly marking the club's centenary in 1983.

Union Bremen remains the oldest of its rivalries, a legacy of the four years the two clubs spent as one body in the 1920s. Blumenthaler SV is the more regular opponent now, meeting Schwachhausen year after year in the Bremen-Liga.
