Long before the current club had a name of its own, the Sokol movement was already part of village life in eastern Slovakia. The team still carries the falcon in its name and plays in red, white and black.
Its level today is the 4. Liga Východ, the fifth tier of Slovak football, with a covered stand and standing areas around a grass pitch.
The best run came in 2009/2010, in the regional stage of the Slovak Cup (Slovenský pohár). Sokol beat FK N. Hrušov in the quarter-finals and MŠK Stropkov in the semi-finals, then reached the final. That was as far as it went, and the club has no major national honours. The reserve side, TJ Sokol Ľubotice B, won the III. A trieda in 2012/2013 and went up to the II. trieda.
Matúš Marcin is a forward who spent only the 2018/2019 season here. He scored 12 goals in 11 appearances, then moved to FK Železiarne Podbrezová and later to MFK Zemplín Michalovce.
