Sorriso Ec U20

Sinop lies to the north of Sorriso.

The club was founded on 20 July 1985. Sorriso won the Campeonato Mato-Grossense in 1992 and 1993. It had finished as runner-up in the second division in 1991. Those titles took the club into the Copa do Brasil twice, where it met Grêmio in 1993 and Vitória in 1994. Since then its best finish in the state league has been fourth place, in 2008. In 2013 it won the second division again.

Fransérgio played for it from 2004 to 2008, then moved to Atlético Paranaense. His career took in Marítimo, Braga and Bordeaux in Europe, and Coritiba and Luverdense in Brazil. The youth team was invited champion of the Copa Norte Sub-17 in 2006 and reached the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior in 2007 and 2010. In 2024 the striker Maikon Leite joined the senior squad. In 2026 the Under-20 team, with players such as Marcos Júnior and Marcos Rogério, represented Brazil at the COTIF Tournament.

The first-team titles date from 1992 and 1993, and the club has not won the state championship since. The home ground, the Estádio Egídio José Preima, holds 4,000.
