SV Horn

Horn sit in the Regionalliga Ost, the tier they have shuttled to and from for the past two decades.

The name has changed twice: Rapid Horn from 1927, then a 1947 merger with ASK Horn that produced SV Horn as it stands today. Between those years and now, three Landesliga Niederösterreich titles and four Regionalliga Ost championships mark the club's ceiling — a provincial side that has occasionally broken through to the third tier of Austrian football and no higher, until 2019.

What put Horn on maps outside Lower Austria was Keisuke Honda, who bought a 49% stake in the club in 2015 and sold it three years later, a spell that briefly made a town of a few thousand people a stop on the itinerary of Japanese football journalists. Stefan Maierhofer, a striker who had played in the Premier League and Bundesliga, later turned out for the club as his career wound down, and Nikki Havenaar spent time in Horn's forward line as well.

The Waldviertel-Weinviertel derby against SC Retz gives the club its sharpest local rivalry, with Kremser SC providing the other regular fixture worth marking on the calendar. Horn play in blue and white at the Sparkasse Horn Arena, a ground that holds 3,500 in a town whose football club has spent a century punching only slightly above its size.
