Floridsdorfer AC

Ernst Ocwirk grew up on Floridsdorfer AC's books, arriving as a boy through the club's wartime amalgamation with FC Stadlau, and left in 1947 for a career that brought him 62 caps for Austria and five championships with Austria Wien. He later returned to Floridsdorf to coach the side that had first put him on a pitch.

The club took shape in August 1904 as Floridsdorfer Athletiksport-Club, playing its early fixtures at Birnerplatz before moving, in 1906, to new ground by the Nordbahnbrücke. Its one Austrian championship dates from 1918 and remains the only top-flight title FAC has won; a cup final victory the same year was never recognised by the federation after a dispute over a rescheduled tie.

Ground changes followed the club through the twentieth century — Admira's old stadium in Deublergasse from 1933, then a permanent home from 1966 at Hopfengasse, also inherited from Admira, now known as FAC-Platz and holding 3,000. The name changed almost as often: a merger with SV Groß Viktoria in 1990 produced FAC Viktoria Wien, undone in 1997; a later one with PSV Team für Wien lasted from 2007 to 2014, when the club reverted to plain FAC.

That same year, 2014, marked a return to the second division after a 47-year absence, a run that peaked with a runners-up finish in 2021/22. Marko Arnautović passed through the youth ranks on his way to a rather longer journey.
