Austria Vienna (Am)

The one line worth pointing to sits in 2005, when the reserve side topped the Regionalliga Ost, the third tier. Seven years earlier the same shirt had already taken the Wiener Liga, in 1998, back when the club still carried a different name.

That name was Prater SV, founded in 1926 and kitted out in black and white, with no connection yet to Austria Wien. The link came in the mid-1990s, when Austria Wien struck an arrangement with Prater SV, by then playing in the Wiener Liga, and folded the smaller club into its own structure. The side was rebranded Prater Memphis before settling into its present role, its colours switched to the violet and white of its parent club.

The team plays under a name familiar from the archives but rarely from the present tense — Austria Wien (Am), sometimes listed as the Young Violets — and functions as the pathway between youth football and the first team. As a reserve side, it cannot enter the Austrian Cup as an independent contender and has no route into European competition, whatever it does domestically.

Home games are played at the Hohe Warte, a ground holding 5,500, a modest number set against a shirt that still carries the nickname Veilchen, the Violets, shared with the rest of the Austria Wien setup. There is no separate club website; anything on the reserve team runs through the main club's own pages.
