Alf Minzel wore SV Wehen's shirt 431 times, more than anyone else in the club's history, and stayed on afterwards in an administrative role. Bundesliga forced a decision nobody had planned for.

The old ground in Taunusstein did not meet DFB requirements for the second tier, so the club moved to Wiesbaden and built a new one in 112 days.

SV Wehen has never reached the Bundesliga. Its best finish in the second tier was eighth, in 2007/08, and its deepest cup run stopped at the quarter-final in 2008/09. What it has built instead is a habit of surviving the 3. Domestically, the Hessenpokal has become almost a fixture: nine wins, most recently in 2025 and 2026, alongside a Regionalliga Süd title in 2007.

None of that matters as much, on the day, as the fixtures against Hessen's other clubs.
