Three Bridges

Peter Ranson put in more than 300 appearances for Three Bridges through the 1980s, a run built on the back of a Crystal Palace youth education that had already earned him an FA Youth Cup winner's medal in 1977.

The club he played for had already carried a different name once: between 1953 and 1964 it played as Three Bridges United, switching back before the identity had time to settle. The first Sussex County League title, Division Two in 1954, came either side of that spell; the more meaningful one arrived in 2011–12, when Division One champions status brought promotion into the Isthmian League. Cup runs have been rarer than league form. The FA Vase run reached the fifth round in 1981–82, and it took until 2022 for the club to get past the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Amber and black have stayed the colours throughout. What changed, in 2024–25, was where the shirts were worn: with Jubilee Walk out of use while a 3G pitch went in, Three Bridges spent the first half of the season ground-sharing at Chatham Town before coming home that December. The rivalry that matters locally is with Burgess Hill Town, played out each Boxing Day, alongside the shorter trip across Crawley to face Tilgate. Jubilee Walk holds 1,500 on Three Bridges Road.
