Tricolorul Breaza

Promotion in 2009 came the hard way, through play-offs. Tricolorul Breaza finished the 2008–09 season as runners-up in Liga III, Seria III, then had to beat Oțelul Galați's reserve side and CSO Ovidiu in a play-off to go up. The reward was a single season in Liga II, in 2009–10, where Breaza finished 16th and stayed up only because Baia Mare withdrew from the league.

The club playing under that name today is not the one that earned that promotion. The Breaza line goes back to 1924, was dissolved, revived, renamed through the Communist years as Precizia and then Hidrojet, and reclaimed the Tricolorul name in 2001. In 2010 that entity was folded into Politehnica Iași, and a fresh club, Precizia Breaza, had to start again in the lower leagues. In 2013 it took on the old identity once more, becoming CSO Tricolorul Breaza.

Since then the club has settled into Prahova County football, winning the county's Liga IV in 2000–01 and again in 2022–23, more than two decades apart. Cătălin Cursaru, who had led Liga I in scoring earlier in his career, turned out for Breaza during that Liga II season, a rare touch of top-flight pedigree at a club of this size.

Matches against Petrolistul Boldești and CSO Plopeni carry the weight of local rivalry in the county league. Breaza plays at Stadionul Eugen Șoriceanu, in white, blue and red.
