Újpest II has had several names. It was Újpest Football Club II from 1998 to 2007, then Újpest Football Club B until 2013. In the late 1930s and early 1940s they played in the second tier, the NB II, and finished 3rd in the Alföld group in 1939–40. Then reserve teams were barred from that division in 1940.

The team won the NB III Duna group in 2009–10 and moved up to the NB II, where it had a spell from 2007 to 2013. In 2010–11 it finished 9th in the Eastern group. Since 2013 the side has been back in the third tier.

Lilac and white are the colours, and the nickname is the Lilák. The line goes back to 16 June 1885, when Újpesti Torna Egylet was formed, and the reserves grew out of that club.
