The White Wolves have won the AFC U-23 Asian Cup once, in 2018, beating Vietnam 2–1 in the final on goals from Rustamjon Ashurmatov and Andrey Sidorov. It is the closest thing the age group has to a signature result, and one they have not been able to repeat: Uzbekistan reached the final again in 2022 and 2024, losing 0–2 to Saudi Arabia and then 0–1 to Japan.

The side plays under the Uzbekistan Football Association and traces its own record separately from the senior team, having taken the field for the first time on 20 May 1995, beating Kyrgyzstan 5–1. It shares the "White Wolves" nickname with the full national team, and its games at the 35,000-capacity Pakhtakor Markazi Stadium in Tashkent draw the same following.

Beyond the Asian Cup, the team has picked up a bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Games, played the following year, where it beat Hong Kong 4–0 in the third-place match. That tournament run fed into a first appearance at the Olympics, in Paris in 2024, where Uzbekistan took a point from a draw with the Dominican Republic before losing to Spain and Egypt and going out in the group stage.

Timur Kapadze led the team through that Olympic cycle and the 2024 Asian Cup campaign. Having missed out on gold at the last two editions of the continental tournament, the White Wolves go into the next Asian Cup still chasing a route back to the Olympics under him.
