Neither fixture has ever earned itself a name — the closest either side comes to admitting it matters is the size of the crowd it pulls.

Ware, known in its early years as Ware Town, spent the turn of the twentieth century collecting silverware that stayed mostly local: five Herts Senior Cups spread from 1899 to 1954, and the Spartan League Premier Division in 1953.

The bigger crowds came later. In January 1957, 3,800 packed into Wodson Park for an FA Amateur Cup tie against Hendon, still the highest attendance the ground has recorded. The club reached the FA Cup First Round Proper twice, in 1968-69 and again in 2007-08, when Kidderminster Harriers' visit drew 2,123. Between those two runs came the Isthmian League Division Two title, won in 2005-06.

No name attached to the club carries further than Derek Saunders, capped for Chelsea and England, who captained the Spartan League side in 1945-46.
