Ireland in Sri Lanka 2023/24

The series between Ireland and Sri Lanka covers international cricket across three formats. It is not a domestic tournament but a bilateral arrangement between national cricket boards. Both nations hold Test status, though Ireland ranks as an Associate Member while Sri Lanka is a Full Member of the International Cricket Council.

The Test format represents the highest level of the game. The first Test series between the two nations took place in April 2023 in Galle. Sri Lanka secured a 2-0 victory in that encounter. This remains the sole Test series played specifically between these two teams to date.

One Day International matches began much earlier. The first meeting occurred on June 13, 2007, during a Cricket World Cup match in Grenada. Since then, the teams have met in several contexts. A bilateral series in 2016 saw Sri Lanka win 2-0. More recently, an August 2024 series in Ireland resulted in a 2-0 win for Ireland. The men's overall record stands at four wins for Sri Lanka and two for Ireland.

Twenty20 International cricket has seen fewer direct confrontations. The first T20I took place on October 20, 2021, during the T20 World Cup. Sri Lanka leads the head-to-head 2-0, having won matches in 2021 and 2022. No bilateral T20I series has been played outside of World Cup tournaments.

Women's cricket also features regular bilateral series. The most recent women's ODI series in August 2024 was won 2-1 by Ireland. A women's T20I series held in the same month ended in a 1-1 draw. These fixtures operate independently of the men's schedule. The term describes the tours rather than a single branded tournament.
