About

The **Global T20 Namibia** was a one-off invitational Twenty20 tournament held in Windhoek during September 2022. Cricket Namibia organized the event to raise the profile of the sport locally and provide preparation for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The competition featured three teams after Bengal from India withdrew due to logistical issues. The participating sides were Lahore Qalandars, sending a development squad rather than their first-team stars, DP World Lions from South Africa, and the Namibia Eagles, the country's domestic development side also known as the Richelieu Eagles.

The tournament followed a specific structure comprising a league stage where each team played every other side twice. The top two teams then progressed to a final to decide the winner. DP World Lions claimed the title, defeating Lahore Qalandars in the decisive match. All matches played were unofficial Twenty20s and did not carry Twenty20 International status, distinguishing the event from official international fixtures.

The tournament was a unique event and not a recurring fixture in the international cricket calendar. It was not held in 2023 or 2024, despite initial plans for it to become an annual competition. This singular edition stands apart from Namibia's regular domestic cricket structure, which includes the Nedbank Desert Ice Challenge Twenty20 League featuring teams like the Gobabis Bulls and Cricket Generation Academy. Namibia also participates in South Africa's domestic competitions, such as the CSA Provincial Twenty20 Cup, but the Global T20 Namibia remained a distinct, short-lived experiment in hosting international teams within the region.
