Nepal Tri-Nation T20I Series [Feb 2024] 2023/24

The Nepal Tri-Nation T20I Series 2024 was a cricket tournament hosted by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. The event ran from February 27 to March 5, 2024, and brought together three Associate member nations: Nepal, Namibia, and the Netherlands. Every match played during the series received T20 International (T20I) status from the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The competition followed a structured format consisting of a round-robin league stage followed by a single final. All seven matches were played within this framework. The Netherlands claimed the title after defeating Nepal by 4 wickets in the deciding game. The tournament served as a preparation window for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, a contest for which all three participating teams had already secured their place. This series was distinct from a concurrent One Day International (ODI) tri-series that ran from February 15 to 23, 2024. That separate event formed the first round of the 2024–2026 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2, whereas the T20I series was not part of any official qualification pathway.

Notable performances emerged during the contest. Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton of Namibia scored the fastest century in T20I history, reaching the milestone in 33 balls during the opening match against Nepal. This record-setting innings occurred in the very first game of the series. The event provided crucial preparation time for the teams before the global tournament in the West Indies and the United States.

The series was organized entirely by CAN and was held exclusively in Nepal. The host nation played against two visiting teams, creating a competitive environment focused on skill development and readiness for upcoming international fixtures. The final result confirmed the Netherlands as the strongest side in this specific gathering, securing victory over the hosts in a close finish.
