Netherlands Women's T20I Tri-Series (Papua New Guinea) 2024/25

The Netherlands Women’s T20I Tri-Series functions as a descriptive term for ad-hoc bilateral triangular series hosted by the Royal Dutch Cricket Federation (KNCB). It is not a standalone, branded annual tournament with a fixed founding date or permanent structure. The KNCB, the governing body for cricket in the Netherlands, has been an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 1966.

The most prominent recent iteration was the Women’s Tri-Series in Netherlands 2024, held in August 2024. This event featured the Netherlands Women, Scotland Women, and Papua New Guinea Women. It was not a single-format competition but a combined series including both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). The T20I portion consisted of three matches played at the VRA Cricket Ground in Amstelveen.

The format for the T20I segment was a single round-robin league with no finals or playoffs. Each of the three teams played each other once. Scotland Women won the series by topping the points table, securing victories against both opponents. The match between the Netherlands and Papua New Guinea was abandoned without a result. The winner was determined by Net Run Rate in case of tied points, though Scotland secured the title with wins. The series served as preparation for the ICC Women's Emerging Nations Trophy.

Previous editions with similar descriptive titles include the 2023 Netherlands Women’s Tri-Nation Series, which featured Netherlands, Scotland, and Thailand, and was T20I-only. The 2024 event was distinct in its inclusion of Papua New Guinea and the dual-format nature. Unlike domestic league competitions such as the Dutch Hoofdklasse, this series is an international bilateral arrangement. It differs from ICC-run pathway events like the Women's Challenger Series, as it is organized directly by the KNCB for ranking points and preparation rather than as a formal developmental tournament. There is no evidence of a continuous annual history prior to 2023, nor a specific commercial sponsor name attached to the brand; it is referred to generically by the host and participants.
