Pakistan in Sri Lanka is not a permanent tournament with a fixed founding date or league structure. It is a generic term for bilateral cricket tours organized between the Pakistan national cricket team and the Sri Lanka national cricket team. These tours are governed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) regulations and the respective national boards: Sri Lanka Cricket (host) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (visitor).

The tours typically consist of multiple formats played in sequence, most commonly Test matches, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). The number of matches varies by tour. Unlike domestic leagues, there are no groups or play-offs within the bilateral series itself, though T20Is have occasionally been part of tri-nation tournaments involving round-robin stages.

The first Test series between the two nations was played in Pakistan in December 1982, ending in a 0-0 draw. Their first ODI meeting was in the 1975 Cricket World Cup, but the first bilateral ODI series occurred later in the early 1980s. The rivalry gained significant historical weight during the 2019/20 Test series in Pakistan, which marked the "homecoming" of international Test cricket to Pakistan after a 10-year hiatus due to security concerns following the 2009 attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore. This series was supported by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).

There is no single permanent trophy for the entire multi-format tour. Trophies are format-specific and often ad-hoc or sponsored. The Test series has been contested for the "Osaka Batteries Cup" (unveiled in 2019). Recent ODI and T20I series have had specific trophies unveiled for each tour, but these do not carry permanent historical names like the "Warne-Muralitharan Trophy" (Australia vs. Sri Lanka).

Pakistan leads the head-to-head in ODIs (approx. 94 wins to 64 as of recent data). In Tests, the record is competitive; the 2022 series in Sri Lanka ended 1-1. Pakistan holds the record for the fastest 300-plus chase in Test history (342 runs at Galle in 2022). Pakistan has won recent bilateral series in ODIs and T20Is (e.g., 2019 in Pakistan), while the 2022 Test series was drawn.
