About

The Shpageeza Cricket League is Afghanistan's premier domestic Twenty20 franchise tournament, organized by the Afghanistan Cricket Board. The competition sits at the top of the country's domestic T20 hierarchy, serving as a key platform for developing talent for the national team.

The tournament operates on a double round-robin league stage where each team plays every other team twice, followed by a single final match between the top two teams in the standings. All matches are played under T20 rules, having received official T20 status in 2017. There is no promotion or relegation system, as the league is franchise-based with teams selected through an ACB-managed draft process that includes national players, overseas cricketers, and youth talents.

The current format features five regional franchises: Amo Sharks, Band-e-Amir Dragons, Boost Defenders, Mis Ainak Knights, and Speenghar Tigers. Earlier editions included more teams, such as Kabul Eagles, Hindukush Stars, and Pamir Zalmi, but the structure was consolidated to five teams by the 2024 season.

The most successful teams in the league's history are the Amo Sharks and the Speenghar Tigers, who are tied with three titles each. The Speenghar Tigers won the inaugural title in 2013, followed by victories in 2015 and 2022. The Amo Sharks have won three consecutive titles in 2024, 2025, and 2026. The current title holder is the Amo Sharks, who defeated the Speenghar Tigers in the 2026 final.

The league is broadcast on RTA 1TV and aims to promote cricket through commercial sponsorship and high-definition broadcasting standards.
