Match report

West Indies defeated India 252 to 249 in the Western India tournament on Thursday, 9 October 2026. The result came after a closely contested encounter that ended with the visitors claiming a three-run victory.

These two sides have been meeting with regularity in recent weeks. India's last five fixtures included four against West Indies, while the visitors also faced India in their previous four matches. The pattern of encounters suggests a tournament structure where the pairings repeat.

India's recent form has been tight. They lost 172-171 to West Indies on 6 October, then suffered a 352-351 defeat three days earlier. Their only win in that stretch came against Pakistan 211-192 on 3 October, alongside a comfortable 169-45 victory over Sri Lanka and a dramatic 406-405 loss to West Indies on 30 September.

West Indies' record reads similarly close. They dropped 171-172 to India on 6 October, then won 352-351 against the same opposition on 3 October. Their 405-406 defeat to India on 30 September and a 295-300 loss to India on 27 September round out their recent run, with a 269-268 win over New Zealand on 21 July as their only non-India result.

The three-run margin leaves West Indies top of the standings with 22 points. India remain in second place, trailing by the same gap. The result extends West Indies' unbeaten run against India to four matches across all competitions.
