Vacqui NCSE Women hosted DVSK in the NB I on Sunday, with the visitors claiming a 37-33 victory after a hard-fought match. Both sides traded blows throughout, but DVSK's consistency proved decisive in the end.
To be fair, this was never going to be straightforward for the hosts. DVSK arrived unbeaten from three opening rounds, while Vacqui NCSE had collected six points from a mixed start — one win and two draws. The difference in quality showed through.
And here's the thing about the table: DVSK sit fourth with six points, a full three ahead of seventh. Vacqui NCSE remain ninth with two points, level on points with two other sides but trailing on goal difference. One more win and the gap closes.
Vacqui NCSE had won their opener 31-27 against Gniezno, then dropped points against Estergom and Vaas. DVSK, meanwhile, beat Alba Fehervar 29-22 last time out. The away side looked sharper, more composed under pressure.
Our forecast called for a guest victory at 68 per cent confidence, and it came through. The visitors didn't dominate early but found a gear when it mattered, closing out the game with composure.
