Stephen Fleming to Commentate on NZ v India T20s
England's new Test coach will join Sky NZ's commentary team for the five-match T20 series against India before starting his role in South Africa this December.
Sky NZ confirmed on Monday that the New Zealand Test coach will join their commentary team for New Zealand's five-match T20 series against India, which runs from 22 October to 1 November. Fleming will work alongside Ravi Shastri and former Black Caps Ross Taylor, Tim Southee, Scott Styris and Shane Bond.
Fleming was named as Brendon McCullum's successor in late July but had no part in the 3-0 series win over Pakistan this summer, with Marcus Trescothick standing in as interim coach and Joe Root leading the side. His first assignment in the role comes in South Africa this winter, in a series that starts on 17 December.
He will not stay on air for the full India tour. Once the T20s finish, New Zealand and India move into five ODIs and two Tests, and Fleming steps away from the broadcast to begin preparing for the Proteas series.
New Zealand's longest-serving Test captain as a player, Fleming went on to coach Chennai Super Kings to five IPL titles across 17 years in charge. England is his first international coaching post. "I'm incredibly excited to be joining England as Test coach," he said when the appointment was confirmed.
