Three centuries in one innings pushed West Indies to 405 for seven against India in Guwahati on Wednesday, their highest ODI total on record.

John Campbell made 101, Shai Hope 104 and Amir Jangoo 114. It is only the sixth time in ODI history that three batters have reached a hundred in the same innings.

West Indies lost Keacy Carty for nine after being sent in to bat, but Campbell and Hope put on 110 for the second wicket. Campbell hit nine fours and five sixes in a 68-ball innings before falling to Gurnoor Brar in the over after reaching three figures.

Hope and Jangoo then added 182 for the third wicket, taking the score apart on a pitch offering little help to the bowlers. Hope's hundred was his 20th in ODIs, taking him past Brian Lara's 19 for West Indies; Chris Gayle remains the leading centurion for the country with 25. Jangoo reached his second ODI century off 70 balls.

Three wickets fell quickly after that, Hope and Sherfane Rutherford both out cheaply — Rutherford for a first-ball duck — and Jangoo dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja. Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets in the innings to reach 200 in ODIs. Roston Chase finished unbeaten on 29 to carry West Indies past 400.

The previous best for West Indies was 389 against England in 2019, a match they went on to lose. India lead the three-match series 1-0 and now need a chase beyond their own ODI record of 362, set against Australia in Jaipur in 2013.
