Adil Rashid ruled out of Sri Lanka ODI series
England's leg-spinner will miss all three ODIs against Sri Lanka with a right hand injury, with Rehan Ahmed drafted into the squad.
Adil Rashid will miss England's one-day series against Sri Lanka after injuring his bowling hand.
The 38-year-old leg-spinner was hurt fielding at Emirates Old Trafford on Saturday, as England completed a 3-0 T20 sweep of their Asian rivals. A scan on Monday confirmed the issue as a right hand injury, and the England and Wales Cricket Board has ruled him out of all three ODIs.
White-ball captain Harry Brook confirmed Rashid would sit out Tuesday's series opener at the Banks Homes Riverside, Thursday's match at Headingley and Sunday's finale at the Kia Oval.
Rehan Ahmed, his leg-spinning protege, takes his place in the squad for Chester-le-Street.
Rashid sits second on England's all-time ODI wicket-taking list with 243, behind only Sir James Anderson on 269. England swept the T20s 3-0. The ODIs start Tuesday.
