About the player
Diego Chávez spent a decade in Independiente's youth ranks before starting his senior career at Colegiales, where he scored five goals in 49 appearances in the Primera B Metropolitana. Spells at Ferro Carril Oeste and Temperley followed in Argentina's lower divisions before he moved abroad in 2022, joining Unión Magdalena in Colombia and scoring five goals in 19 league appearances.
That form carried him to Atlético Bucaramanga in 2023, where he made 37 league appearances in the Categoría Primera A. A move to Deportivo Pasto in 2024 turned into his most productive campaign yet: 41 league appearances and six goals, among them an 89th-minute winner against Deportivo Cali in September of that year. The strike settled a game that had looked to be slipping away.
In January 2025 he returned to Atlético Bucaramanga on a free transfer. Since going back, he has made 22 league appearances without finding the net through December of that year.
Chávez has not collected a league title or cup during his career, nor has he received individual recognition or a call-up to the Argentina national side. At 180cm and right-footed, he operates through the centre of midfield.
