Eduardo Luiz Person

Eduardo Person's path to Brazil's top flight ran through the second division before it clicked. A right-footed midfielder from São Paulo, he came up through Joinville, but the bulk of his early career was spent away from the club that developed him, out on loan at Metropolitano, Juventus-SC and Brasil de Pelotas as he searched for regular football.

Guarani gave him that platform. A loan move in January 2020 was extended a year later and turned permanent by the end of 2021, and it was there that Person established himself. Spells at Ituano followed, through the 2023 and 2024 seasons, before a free transfer to Chapecoense in January 2025. He was instrumental as Chapecoense won promotion back to Série A.

In the Campeonato Mineiro he scored twice and was named to the tournament's Team of the Season as a midfielder, even without finishing among the competition's top scorers or assist providers.

He has yet to receive a call-up to the Brazilian senior national team, and each of his moves between clubs has come on a free transfer or for an undisclosed fee. For a player who spent years shuttling between loan spells in the lower divisions, the route to a Série A midfield has been a long one.
