Germán Leonel Guiffrey

Germán Guiffrey grew up in Concordia and came through the youth ranks of Club Salto Grande before a spell at Newell's Old Boys, eventually settling at Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, the club that made him a first-team regular. He spent six years there, making 71 league appearances and scoring twice as a centre-back, and reached the final of the Copa Argentina in 2018, though Gimnasia lost that final to Rosario Central. He was also part of the Gimnasia squad involved in the 2021 Copa de la Liga Profesional, a competition Boca Juniors went on to win.

In January 2024 he left as a free agent for Audax Italiano in Chile. Two years later he returned home on loan, joining Tigre in January 2026 with an option to buy attached to the deal. That spell was brief: in July 2026 he signed for Gimnasia M. as a free agent once his time at Tigre ended.

At his new club he has featured as a squad player rather than an automatic starter, making three appearances in the Liga Profesional Clausura 2026 and playing 162 minutes, with a yellow card among his disciplinary record so far. He has also been an unused substitute on several occasions. A left-footed defender, he has not been capped by Argentina at any level.
