Hansell Argenis Riojas La Rosa

Hansell Riojas came through the youth ranks at Alianza Lima before moving into senior football with Sport Boys in 2011. After relegation with Sport Boys the following year, he spent the following seasons moving between clubs: Deportivo Municipal, Cienciano, and then Universidad César Vallejo, with whom he played in the Copa Libertadores in 2016 before that side, too, went down.

He won the Peruvian Primera División and the Torneo Apertura in early 2017, then returned to the club in 2018 and added the Torneo Clausura in 2019, either side of a brief move to Argentina's Belgrano. He came back to Sport Boys for a second stint in 2020, making 23 appearances and scoring once, before further moves took him through Cienciano, Cusco FC, a third spell at Sport Boys, and, in 2024, spells abroad with Guatemala's Deportivo Malacateco and with Unión Comercio, who were relegated that year. In 2025 he returned to Sport Boys for a third time and now captains the side.

At international level, Riojas won four caps for Peru in 2014 and 2015. His debut, on 30 May 2014 in a friendly against England at Wembley, is remembered less for the football than for the moment a paper aeroplane thrown from the crowd struck him, an incident that went viral at the time. He was part of the Peru squad that won bronze at the 2015 Copa América in Chile.
