Luis René Barboza Quiróz

Luis René Barboza Quiróz came through the youth ranks at Club Blooming and joined the first team in January 2012, going on to score eight goals in nineteen league appearances there before moving on to Guabirá in 2014. It was at Aurora, though, where he became a fixture: signed in January 2018, the centre-back stayed for seven seasons and passed 180 league appearances for the club, a run that also took in a Copa Libertadores campaign in 2021.

His most eye-catching moment in Aurora colours had nothing to do with defending: a red card in the 89th minute against Real Santa Cruz in October 2023 brought his afternoon to an abrupt end. On the international side, Barboza worked his way up through Bolivia's youth sides, from the under-20s to the under-23s, before a place in the senior squad for the 2021 Copa América, wearing number 26, though he did not feature in the tournament itself. His full international debut came later, in November 2024, when coach Óscar Villegas picked him to start against Ecuador in World Cup qualifying.

In January 2025, after his contract at Aurora ran its course, Barboza moved to San Antonio Bulo Bulo on a free transfer. He settled quickly, scoring three goals in his first ten league appearances for the club.
