About the player

Luis Ortiz came through at Sol de América, where he made his senior debut and stayed on the books from 2018 until the end of 2021, scoring against Guaireña along the way. A loan spell followed at Sportivo San Lorenzo in 2022 before he signed for Sportivo Ameliano on a free transfer at the start of 2023, spending a season there as a midfielder and left winger.

He went back to Sol de América for the 2024 campaign, again on a free move, and started regularly through the Apertura tournament, making his return debut against Olimpia. That form led to a loan to Azerbaijan's FK Neftchi in December 2024.

Ortiz returned to Sportivo Ameliano in July 2025 once the loan ended, and settled back into the side for the Paraguayan Primera División. Across the 2025 season he made 22 appearances, scoring three goals and setting up two more, with one of those strikes coming against Nacional in May. Ameliano's form was strong enough to earn qualification for the Copa Sudamericana, though Ortiz has yet to add a title to his career.

None of his moves have involved a transfer fee, built instead on free transfers and loan deals as he has shuttled between Sol de América, Sportivo San Lorenzo, Sportivo Ameliano and Neftchi over the past several seasons.
