Malia Berkeley

Before she made it to the professional game in Europe or the United States, Malia Berkeley was winning Ohio Division III state titles at Father Stephen T. Badin High School and picking up back-to-back Gatorade Player of the Year honours. At Florida State, she was named First-Team All-American in both 2019 and 2020 and won the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award in each of those seasons, part of a Seminoles side that had already lifted the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship in 2018.

Berkeley turned professional in France, making ten appearances and scoring once for FC Girondins de Bordeaux in Division 1 Féminine during the 2021 season, before moving to the North Carolina Courage that December. She won the NWSL Challenge Cup with the club in both 2022 and 2023, and by the 2023 regular season she led the entire league in passing accuracy, completing 89.8% of her attempts. She set the NWSL's single-half assist record on September 8, 2024, setting up three goals in a 4–1 win over the San Diego Wave.

In September 2025, the Courage traded Berkeley to the Houston Dash, sending her to Texas along with $75,000 in 2026 intra-league transfer funds in exchange for defender Natalie Jacobs.
