About the player
Thiago Aguirre came through "La Fábrica", Vélez Sarsfield's academy. His generation won the Copa Libertadores Sub-13, and he later took titles in the Novena and Octava divisions of the AFA Juvenil league; the club described his Séptima division side as having "won everything it played in AFA Juvenile."
Aguirre put pen to paper on his first professional deal on 13 May 2025, a contract running to the end of 2027 with a release clause set at fifteen million dollars.
His first-team debut followed in the Argentine Primera División, in a 3-1 win over Talleres in which he set up a goal. Days later he opened his own account as a professional, scoring against Independiente. He made the step from the youth ranks straight into the senior squad without passing through another club.
