It was the club's second cup, following the one taken in 2022/23 against ORK Rudar, 29:27, and it came after two lost finals, to Lovćen in 2014/15 and to RK Komovi in 2018/19. The league title itself dates to 2015/16 and was repeated in 2021/22.

The club took shape in Budva in 2006 as RK Stari Grad and adopted its present name two years later. It plays at the Mediteranski Sportski Centar Hall, which holds 1,100, in an orange and midnight blue kit.

Entries in the EHF Challenge Cup in 2009/10 and 2010/11 ended in the early rounds, against Stord Handball and against HC Rudar Pljevlja, and a EHF Cup qualifying tie against Filippos Verias in 2016/17 went the same way. The 2025/26 EHF European Cup run went further: past Diomidis Argous of Greece in the second round, then out to Slovenia's RK Trimo Trebnje in round three.
