China Women

China Women arrive at the tail end of a run of regional qualifiers with a bronze medal to show for it: a five-wicket win over Nepal in the third-place playoff of the 2026 Asian Games Women's T20I Qualifier, a result driven largely by Mingyue Zhu's batting.

The team has spent most of its existence chasing that kind of moment. It debuted at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, the tournament that effectively created the modern national side, and reached the semi-finals there and again in Incheon in 2014, finishing fourth on both occasions. T20I status did not arrive until 2018, years after the matches themselves had started counting for something in the region. Before any of that, it was the Shanghai Cricket Club, a 19th-century institution, that stood in for a national team when China played its first international fixture in 2006.

Hangzhou has since become the side's working base, with training and home fixtures centred on the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field at Zhejiang University of Technology, a ground that later hosted the 2023 Asian Games cricket competition. The team still travels for most of its cricket, and no fixture draws more attention than the one against Hong Kong Women.

Mingyue Zhu is the name attached to most of the team's recent scoring, with 441 runs in 41 T20Is.
