Bangladesh Women

Bangladesh had never played a full international when they took the field against India in the 2018 T20 Asia Cup final. They chased the target down by three wickets anyway, becoming the first team other than India to win the tournament.

The team's debut, in July 2007, was itself a winning one: two matches against Thailand, followed by the inaugural ACC Women's Tournament. One-Day International status came later, in November 2011, after a fifth-place finish at the World Cup qualifier, and a first World Cup appearance did not follow until 2022, when Bangladesh finished seventh. They have not missed a Women's T20 World Cup since entering in 2014.

Multi-sport events have brought the more consistent silverware: silver at the Asian Games in Guangzhou in 2010 and again in Incheon in 2014, bronze in Hangzhou in 2022 after beating Pakistan in the play-off, and gold at the 2019 South Asian Games. Bangladesh have won the ICC Women's World Twenty20 Qualifier four times, most recently in 2026.

Against India, the wait for an ODI win lasted until July 2023, and the fixture is still the one supporters mark on the calendar before any other. Home matches are played in Mirpur, at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, which holds just over 25,000. Fargana Hoque remains the side's leading run-scorer, while Sarwar Imran took over as coach in February 2025, succeeding Hashan Tillakaratne.
