Cyclones

The Rotenburg Cyclones never settled into a fixed rivalry; against sides like the Hildesheim Invaders they played regional games without ever hanging a name on the meeting, and the label some fans use for the Invaders' clashes with the Braunschweig Lions belonged to that pairing, not to Rotenburg.

Founded in July 1987, the Cyclones went through a decade under that name before merging with the Zeven Flames in 1997 to form the Rotenburg Wümme Pikes. The Pikes folded after the 1998 season, taking the Cyclones down with them. Former players rebuilt the club in 2002, only to see it absorbed into another merger seven years later, this time with the Flames again and with Vechta Wild Things, under the banner of Zeven Northern United, later renamed Rotenburg Northern United. That project ran until 2021. On 1 January 2022 the Cyclones Sports Family folded for good, and its players joined TuS Rotenburg von 1861, taking the field as the Rotenburg Wolverines in blue and yellow.

What survived across all the mergers and dissolutions was a run of honours won early: the Verbandsliga Nord in 1989, the 2. Bundesliga Nord the year after, and the Landesliga Nord B in 1994.

The Wolverines now play out of the Sportanlage in der Ahe in Rotenburg (Wümme), a ground with room for 3,000.
