Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák lost their main backer in March 2015, when Docler Holding pulled out amid the company's own financial and legal troubles. The club had spent nine years as DAB-Docler by then, and the sponsor's exit cut the budget and forced yet another rebrand — back to the plain civic name, Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák. It was not the first time the shirt had changed on a boardroom decision: since the founding in 1977, when the team started out as Dunaferr SE, it has carried the names of Invitel, Extra.hu and Docler in turn, tracking whichever company was paying the bills in Dunaújváros, a steel town on the Danube built around the works that once employed most of the roster's families.

What survived the sponsors was the record. Between 1996 and 2013 the club won the Hungarian Championship five times, and its haul of eleven Hungarian Cups makes it the most successful side in the competition's history. The international step up, when it came, went well too: DAB won the MOL Liga in both its first two seasons of entry, 2012 and 2013, before the reduced post-Docler budget made repeating that harder.

Balázs Ladányi remains the name most associated with that run, the club's leading scorer through the championship and cup years while sponsors came and went above him. On the ice, the fixture that still fills the away end is against Ferencváros, carried over from Hungarian league days into the Erste Liga; DEAC and Fehérvár AV19 supply the rest of the rivalry.

Steel Bulls play in red and white at the Dunaújvárosi Jégcsarnok, a rink holding 4,000, in a city whose name and colours have outlasted every company logo the shirt has worn.
