DVTK

When Hungary's political system collapsed in 1990, so did the section of Miskolci Kinizsi that had been playing hockey since the tail end of the 1970s. It took four years for anyone in Miskolc to pick the sport back up: in 1994 a new, independent side called Miskolci Jegesmedvék was formed to keep the tradition alive, and it joined the multi-sport club Diósgyőri VTK in 2015 and taking on its current identity, DVTK Jegesmedvék.

Between 2015 and 2017 they won the MOL Liga three times running. The Tatra Cup followed in 2019.

The team plays in black and yellow, a break from the red and white of Diósgyőri VTK's footballers, at the roughly 2,000-capacity Miskolci Jégcsarnok.

János Vas built his reputation through those years, finishing as the club's leading scorer of the Slovak Extraliga era with 115 points in 147 games, while imports such as Kyle Beach and Žiga Pance passed through the roster. Beneath the first team, the DVTK Jegesmedvék Akadémia keeps producing Hungarian players.
