The Magyar Athletikai Club had run an ice hockey section since 1993, MAC Budapest, carrying the parent club's blue, yellow and white into the newly formed Erste Liga. The name has moved on twice since: MAC Újbuda, then MAC HKB Újbuda, and from 2022 the club has competed as Budapest Jégkorong Akadémia HC.
The club took the domestic double in its early years, winning the OB I Bajnokság and the Erste Liga in 2018, and returned to the top of the Hungarian championship in 2025. The Hungarian Cup has gone its way twice, in 2017 and 2023.
Krisztián Nagy remains the club's all-time leading scorer. Tamás Pozsgai holds the appearance record.
Home games are now played at the Vasas Jégcentrum, which holds 1,500.
