Erice Women

Frédéric Bougeant took the bench at a club still building its own history, and by May 2026 he had turned that novelty into a first Scudetto, a 22-20 win over Jomi Salerno that gave Erice Women the Serie A1 Women title. The club had no senior predecessor to draw on: it was set up in 2019 by a group of local entrepreneurs, former players and professionals from the Trapani area, with its earliest roots in a handball programme at the local De Stefano middle school. Promotion to Serie A1 followed within a year.

Before the league title arrived, the trophy cabinet was already filling with domestic cups: three Coppa Italia titles in a row, from 2022-2023 through 2024-2025, and three straight Supercoppa Italiana wins alongside them. Antonella Coppola, the Italian pivot, has collected eight Coppa Italia medals in total, more than any other player in the competition. Brazilian goalkeeper Chana Franciela Masson de Souza added her own mark, named the league's best goalkeeper in 2022-2023.

Matches are played at the Pala Cardella, a hall that holds around 400 people under its official capacity rating. The Harpies wear black and green, and the local rivalry with Handball Trapani gives the derby its edge, while Cassano Magnago and Jomi Salerno have provided the sharper competitive tests in recent playoffs and finals.

For a club seven years old, the run from a middle-school programme to a Scudetto has been fast.
