Frankfurt Lowen

Frankfurt's amateur hockey scene put its own club back on the ice in 1991, when Frankfurter ESC "Die Löwen" was formed to keep the sport alive in the city. Out of that collapse came Löwen Frankfurt Eishockey-Betriebs GmbH, a new legal entity that kept the jerseys of Patrick Lebeau and Michael Bresagk hanging from the rafters and folded the Lions' 2003–04 German championship into its own story.

What followed was a climb back up the divisions rather than a return to the top flight. The club took the Regionalliga West in 2010–11, the Oberliga West three seasons later, then twice topped DEL2, in 2016–17 and again in 2021–22.

None of it changes what the club keeps coming back to: a Frankfurt amateur side founded in 1991 that had to rebuild itself from the ruins of the team it grew out of.
