That climb ran through two seasons five years apart. In 2019 the men's side beat SG HV Olten in the promotion playoffs to reach the Nationalliga B, the same year the women's team won its own promotion to the equivalent tier. The step that mattered more came in 2022, when Kreuzlingen took a best-of-five NLB playoff final against SG Wädenswil/Horgen 3-1 and moved up into the Quickline Handball League, the Swiss top flight, for the first time.
The women's side has since made its own mark: in 2024, under then-coach Kristina Ertl-Hug, it qualified for the European Cup for the first time. On the men's side, sporting matters have run through Paul Kaletsch as sports director. Players who have worn the shirt include former national-team members Fabio Baviera and Haris Berisha.
None of it — not the QHL football, not the derby with Brühl and St. Otmar — was on the table when a group in Kreuzlingen first put a handball club together in 1970.
