Hochstadt Alligators

Ice hockey in Höchstadt an der Aisch traces back to ESC Höchstadt, a club active through the 1970s and 80s before the current organisation took shape. In 1993 it was reconstituted as Höchstadter Eishockey-Club, taking the abbreviation HEC and adopting the name Alligators, playing in green, white and violet.

The club's fortunes since have moved up and down between divisions rather than in one direction. Promotion to the Oberliga came in 2002, and again in 2016 and 2018, but relegation followed too — most sharply in 2005, when financial trouble forced the club to withdraw its professional players and drop down voluntarily. A further fall to the Landesliga came in 2011. Against that backdrop, the Bavarian championship title won in 2001, 2006 and 2018 marks three separate peaks rather than a settled position at the top, and the Bayernkrug Cup, lifted in 1997.

Games against EHC Bayreuth are known locally as the Frankenderby, and older rivalries with ERV Schweinfurt. Mikhail Nemirovsky, a former DEL player, has coached the Alligators through several spells since 2019. On the ice, Daniel Jun stands above the rest of the club's history, holding both the points and assists records.

The Young Alligators keep a youth pipeline running beneath the senior side.
